With the Lord Begins Our Year
While all that we do at CLS is done to the glory of God, our times of worship in chapel are a special time to reflect on the story of God's love shown to His people throughout the ages, and to us today.
Students Reading About Christ and Crickets
September 29 was the kick-off for our families reading two books. The Story is a narrative of God and His people from creation to the end of time. We will read 1 chapter every week. A reading schedule can be found here. You are welcome to join us as we read through the Bible. We will finish the last chapter in May.
We are also reading A Cricket in Times Square. Families will read 1 chapter every night in this book through October 17.
Both books will feature trivia questions about the readings. A student with the correct answer will be chosen to receive a prize. More pictures from the assembly are available in Mr. Stortz's blog.

Lutheran Schools Ranked
#1 in the Country!
The NAEP report, often called the "Nation's Report Card" ranked the Lutheran School system the #1 school system in the country! When compared to public schools, charter schools, and other large school systems, the system of Lutheran grade schools and high schools was ranked the best academic system. Christ Lutheran is proud to be a member of that system.
Additionally, a new report released by ACT shows that students who attend private schools are significantly more ready for college than students who attend public schools. These are two more excellent reasons to celebrate the great work God is doing at Christ Lutheran & Lutheran High School Northeast.

Our 2014 annual State of the School report is available online here. It highlights events from the last 6 months and gives a glimpse of upcoming months.
CLS One of Four Projects Receiving State Recognition
October 7, CLS was one of four individuals/organizations in the state receiving recognition for its environmental leadership excellence. Mrs. Stortz received the award on behalf of Christ Lutheran. We were recognized for our technology recycling projects held the last two years. The Nebraska Industrial Council on the Environment (NICE) award was presented by Governor Dave Heineman.
CLS Recieves 3 Time National Lutheran School Accreditation
On September 28, Mr. Don Weber, Superintendent of all Lutheran Schools in Nebraska, presented CLS with our NLSA Accreditation certificate during the morning worship. CLS students in grades K-8 sang I Love to Tell the Story. This is the 3rd time CLS has gone through the accreditation process.
On April 28-29 a visitation team made up of Lutheran, Catholic, and public school teachers, administrators, and pastors evaluated our school. After their study, they recommended that CLS receive NLSA approval. Their recommendation went to our Nebraska District Office and then to St. Louis, MO for final approval in August.
Campus Theme 2014-2015
Our theme for this school year is based on Ephesians 4:15-16: Speaking the Truth in Love.
Nebraska Department of Education Recognizes CLS
Christ Lutheran School was visited by the Nebraska Department of Education for compliance with Rule 14 which is what our parochial schools operate under. Read their letter here (low resollution) here (high resolution). The reference to Rule 10 is what the public schools operate under. We would meet the requirements of Rule 10, but have chosen not to.
