Vocal Music

Kindergarten- we have taken some quizzes over various instrument sounds and music definitions. They are now working on their Kindergarten musical.
First/Second Grade - we are studying the connection between Art and Music. The students listen to various styles of music and try to make a picture of what the composer had in mind. We just finished with review of rhythms and note names.
Third grade - We are reviewing rhythms in more detail. We studied the difference between duple/triple meter. We have also worked on the Art/Music connection and will be starting to study Theme/Variations in music.

Fifth/Sixth Grade - They did a fantastic job at the Spring concert -we had discussed proper singing technique. We also sang in parts, difficult for students this age. We also reviewed rhythms, identification of various instrument sounds and the Art/Music Connection.
JH Vocals - again, I was so pleased with their singing at the Spring Concert. There are not a lot of other Jr. Highs that have students who sing like ours do. The parts were clear, the vowels were formed correctly, the diction was present, dynamics were utilized, not to mention the correct notes : ). I'm very proud of them for their musicality. The 8th grade will be working on their song for their Graduation for CLS. This will be held on Tuesday, May 22 at 7 pm at Christ Lutheran Church.

Bands

5th g. Band - the Fifth Grade band did a great job at the Spring Concert. We will now be learning 2 short pieces we will play on the last day of school at the All-School meeting, we'll be joining the 6-8 grade band members for this. It is always exciting and quite loud!!
6th g. band - I was so pleased with their progress. The band has really started to play musically this last semester. They have received the July 4 parade music. We play on a float and it's a lot of fun. This is for current band students grades 6-8. We represent our school in a fine manner and salute our Armed Forces.
JH Band - I cannot say enough about the work this band has put in this year. They have performed extremely well at each public performance. We will now polish pep band. I will need each of these students to participate in the July 4 parade. It's a lot of fun to ride on the float and it's so important for our community and it represents our school and what we stand for. I especially need the graduated 8th graders for their leadership roles in playing. Please make every effort to attend. We are done by noon. More info will be sent to your homes during the summer.

Bands

5th g. band - we have made a lot of progress on our Spring Concert songs. We have sections coming in at different beats and we all have to play our own parts.
6th g. bnad - we are playing a selection that is requiring musicality - adding dynamics, phrasing makes the piece more difficult, but more enjoyable to listen to.

Soloists receiveing superiors were: Sarah Meyer, Isabelle Brandt, Bethany Bockelman, Gina Blackman, Lauren Johnson, Emily Wilcox, Jasmine Peterson, Megan O'Gorman, Megan Reuter, Riley Berner, Ryan Brand, and Samantha Wolff.
